flames1 300CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (8/6/19) — Men from Herndon and Hopkinsville pulled a woman from a crashed vehicle before it burst into flames late Monday night along Lafayette Road near mile-marker 12.

Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the driver involved in the single-vehicle crash, identified as Tabitha Snell, 24 of Crofton, was injured and taken via medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Alcohol was a factor in the single-vehicle collision.

Snell was driving a 2006 Nissan Maxima south on Lafayette Road around 10:40 p.m., CCSO reports indicate. The vehicle was seen bouncing off the guardrails just south of Huffman Mill Road, crossing both north and south lanes before striking a tree in a front yard.

Witnesses Clayton Holden and Franklin Giles were able to pull the woman from the vehicle, which was showing a small amount of fire, according to reports. Shortly after removing her, the vehicle burst into flames. The first witness saw the crash, while the second man from Hopkinsville, traveling at approximately 65 mph, told deputies the Nissan had passed him in the area of Gary Lane going at a high rate of speed.

Deputies indicated detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverage upon making contact with the driver involved in the crash. It was noted that several beer bottles were seen inside the vehicle before it burned up.
