AliensCHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (8/14/19) — Kelly “Little Green Men” Days Festival is this weekend at Kelley Station Park, 7490 Old Madisonville Road, Hopkinsville.

The Kelly community annual event is set up with carnival rides and will feature new concessions, games, craft vendors and music that opens 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

The festival, said to be more like a county fair this year, also will feature Paducah’s Galaxy Heroes and an outdoor southern Gospel singing by Still Water beginning 6 p.m. Friday.

Geraldine Sutton Stith will be telling the story of how the Kelley Little Green Men landed in Kelly in 1955 to kick off the festival at 5:30 Friday evening.

An alien-themed karaoke event is set for noon-4 p.m. Saturday in addition to the history of Area 51 presented by paranormal road tripper Zach Bales 4-5 p.m. on the stage. KatDaddy 55 salutes The Little Green Men 6-7 p.m. followed by classic country music from The Red Shadows band 7-8 p.m.

Historians say on the evening of Aug. 31, 1955, five adults and seven children went the Hopkinsville police station, claiming alien creatures from a spaceship attacked their Kelly farmhouse. They held off 12-15 "aliens" with gunfire for nearly two hours.

The family-friendly event is celebrated each August.
