DawsonsHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (10/21/19) — The newest addition to downtown Hopkinsville, The Mixer, will open its doors Dec. 4, in time for the holiday season. The restaurant, bakery and bar, owned by Graham and Heather Dawson, is at 112 E. Sixth St. in the former Young Hardware building.

The restaurant will have an 84-person capacity, with room on the mezzanine level for private events. The private event space can host up to 40 people for sit-down table service. To book a private event, call 270-348-5042. Holiday private event availability is limited, but dates are available.

The restaurant will be open Wednesday-Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Every morning, the restaurant will sell sweet and savory pastries, including Scottish donuts, Scottish scones (both sweet and savory), tomato pie tartlets, quiches, muffins, cinnamon rolls and more. Pre-order pastries, quiches, etc. are available for lunch catering.

Lunch sandwiches, made with homemade bread, will be served Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 5 p.m., the dinner menu and full cocktail bar will be available. The Mixer will have a selection of signature cocktail available daily. Mixologist Graham Dawson is working with a local historian to develop themed drinks inspired by local buildings — stay tuned for details.

Chef Lane Meinert is happy to be back in Hopkinsville and excited to share old and new favorites with local friends and clientele. The Dawsons and Meinert met while working at Hopkinsville’s own Harper House, and the team is excited to combine their culinary and restaurant experience to create a unique establishment for locals and visitors.

“We love our Kentucky home and can’t wait to share The Mixer with this town,” said Heather. “The support we gained through our Kickstarter campaign was overwhelming. We are committed to serving up the best food, desserts and drinks around in such an historic building.”

The Dawson couple launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Mixer in 2018. The campaign raised more support than they expected and allowed them to secure the restaurant’s space inside the popular building in Downtown Hopkinsville. The soft opening the day after Thanksgiving will give their Kickstarter contributors a taste of The Mixer experience, and the Saturday event will be reserved for friends and family.
