daviesscounty panthers 01 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (11/5/17) — Daviess County won convincingly in the opening round of the Class 6A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl, defeating visiting North Hardin 33-7 on Friday night.

With the win, Daviess County improved to 6-5 overall and advances to the second round of the Class 6A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl.

North Hardin ended its season 3-8 with the loss.

The Panthers amassed 302 yards of total offense. Leading Daviess County offensively, quarterback Joey Cambron completed 11-of-22 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns while throwing one interception.

Blake Baker emerged as Cambron's top target and also led the Panthers defensively. Baker hauled in five catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns and also registered two interceptions defensively.

Another versatile player for Daviess County was Marquel Tinsley, who added four receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown while recording an interception of his own.

Landon Newman led Daviess County on the ground, rushing 18 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers' victory.

Daviess County will visit McCracken County in the second round of the Class 6A State Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 10.
