HC Central logoDAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (11/29/17) — Visiting Hopkins County Central pulled away to defeat Dawson Springs 50-33 in a girls' high school basketball season opener on Tuesday night.

Hopkins County Central won despite shooting only 30.6 percent (19-of-62) from the field. The Lady Storm were just 3-of-12 (25 percent) from 3-point range.

Hopkins County Central shot 50 percent (9-of-18) from the free throw line.

Nykea Ikeard registered a double-double and led Hopkins County Central to the win. Ikeard scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Lady Storm, who are under the direction of head coach Todd Webb.

Finishing directly behind Ikeard in the Hopkins County Central scoring column, Somaya Stafford netted 11 points for the Lady Storm.

Madelyn Tow flirted with double figures for Hopkins County Central, netting nine points.

The other scorers for Hopkins County Central in the winning effort were Keli Reynolds (four points), Gabriella Baxter (three points), Keira James (three points), Savannah Adams (two points), Madison Grigg (two points), Hailie Hollis (two points) and Taylor Moore (two points).
