DCGREENVILLE, Ky. (12/5/17) — Daviess County turned the heads of many boys' high school basketball fans throughout the state over the weekend when it knocked off defending champion Bowling Green 68-62 in the First State Bank Tip Off Classic at Muhlenberg County.

With the win, Daviess County improved to 1-1.

Bowling Green opened its season 0-1 with the loss.

Daviess County shot 48.9 percent (23-of-47) from the field. The Panthers were 6-of-10 (60 percent) from 3-point range.

Daviess County shot 72.7 percent (16-of-22) from the free throw line.

Four Panthers reached double figures in the scoring column. Blake Boswell scored 23 points to lead Daviess County to the win.

Accompanying Boswell in double figures for the Panthers, Nick Driskill netted 16 points and Dakota Walden added 14 points.

Flirting with double figures in the scoring column, Jay Owen tossed in nine points for the Panthers.

Caden Coomes rounded out the Daviess County individual scoring, finishing with six points.

Daviess County and Bowling Green aren't slated to meet again this season.
