Daviess County HS logoMORTONS GAP, Ky. (12/30/17) — Mikayla Hamilton scored a game-high 23 points to lead Daviess County past tournament host Hopkins County Central 52-42 in the Lady Storm United Mine Workers of America Classic on Friday.

With the win, Daviess County improved to 5-9.

Hopkins County Central dropped to 8-7 with the loss.

Hamilton was the only Daviess County player to reach double figures in the scoring column. Narrowly missing double figures for the Lady Panthers. Emma Anderson and Bailey Hume added nine points apiece.

Daviess County moved ahead early, outscoring Hopkins County Central 16-7 in the first quarter. The productive Lady Panthers led 34-15 at halftime.

Gabriella Baxter led Hopkins County Central with a team-best 15 points.

Finishing directly behind Baxter in the Hopkins County scoring column, KeKe Ikeard contributed 14 points.

Earlier in the day, Daviess County defeated Northeast (Tenn.) 65-41. 

In another game, Grayson County outlasted Hopkins County Central 51-50 in overtime.
