basketball shotMADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/3/18) — Hopkinsville gradually pulled away to defeat host Madisonville-North Hopkins 58-33 in a mid-season girls' high school basketball game on Tuesday.

With the loss, Madisonville-North Hopkins dropped to 3-9.

Hopkinsville improved to 13-4 with the win.

The Lady Tigers thrived late, leading by as many as 29 points in the second half.

Madisonville-North Hopkins never owned a lead but pushed Hopkinsville, which led 22-15 at halftime, throughout the first half.

Jayla Rose led Hopkinsville with a game-high 24 points. London Foster contributed 14 points and Breon Oldham added 10 points for the Lady Tigers in the convincing victory.

Courtney Peyton paced Madisonville-North Hopkins with 13 points. Peyton was the only Madisonville-North Hopkins to player to reach double figures in the scoring column.

The Lady Maroons shot only 25 percent (14-of-56) from the field. Madisonville-North Hopkins was 2-of-9 from 3-point range in the setback.
