Apollo High School EaglesOWENSBORO, Ky. (3/4/18) — Apollo is headed to the Third Region championship game. Productive Apollo topped Ohio County 64-53 in the semifinals of the Third Region Boys' Basketball Tournament at the Owensboro Sportscenter on Saturday evening.

With the win, Apollo evened its record to 15-15.

Ohio County ended its season 16-14 with the loss.

Faring well early, Ohio County outscored Apollo 16-13 in the first quarter. But Apollo heated up, outscoring Ohio County 13-9 in the second quarter to lead 26-25 at halftime.

Finishing strong, Apollo outscored Ohio County 24-15 in the final quarter.

Hayden Shelton paced Apollo with 18 points. Accompanying Shelton in double figures for Apollo, James Graham added 16 points and Alex Gray posted 14 points. Graham delivered a double-double, pulling down 10 rebounds in Apollo's triumph. 

Aiding Apollo in the win, Angel Saldana dished out a game-high nine assists and netted eight points.

Trey Lewis led Ohio County with 18 points. Joining Lewis in double figures for Ohio County, John Parker posted 12 points and Logan Sandefur netted 10 points.

Apollo will face Ninth District rival Owensboro Catholic in the Third Region championship game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
