Owensboro Catholic logoOWENSBORO, Ky. (3/4/18) — Owensboro Catholic will have an opportunity to compete for a Third Region boys' basketball title. The Aces defeated Muhlenberg County 53-39 in the Third Region Boys' Basketball Tournament Semifinals at the Owensboro Sportscenter on Saturday.

With the win, Owensboro Catholic improved to 23-9.

Muhlenberg County ended its season 12-16 with the loss.

Luke Hayden led Owensboro Catholic with a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds. Hayden scored 15 points for the Aces in the second half.

Accompanying Hayden in double figures for Owensboro Catholic, JD Marshall scored 14 points in addition to grabbing six rebounds.

The Aces led 22-14 at halftime.

Will Nofsinger paced Muhlenberg County with 17 points and six rebounds. Nofsinger was the only Muhlenberg County player to reach double figures in the scoring column.

Owensboro Catholic will meet Ninth District rival Apollo in the Third Region championship game at the Owensboro Sportscenter at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
