wc baseb2 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/14/18) — Webster County claimed another win on the road on Friday, pulling away to defeat host Hopkins County Central 10-4 in a high school baseball matchup.

With the win, Webster County improved to 3-9.

Hopkins County Central dropped to 0-5 with the loss.

Each team managed 10 hits. Webster County shook a slow start to claim the victory.

Hopkins County Central pushed one run across in the bottom half of the first inning and led 2-0 before Webster County crossed home plate for the first time. The Trojans answered with four runs in the top half of the third inning and never trailed again.

Webster County pitcher Logan Erickson earned the win. Erickson surrendered four runs on nine hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Clayton Buchanan threw one-third of an inning in relief for the Trojans.

Hopkins County Central hurler Jacob Morphew took the loss. Morphew surrendered six runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out six.

Offensively, Brendon Thompson, Luke May and Landon Black led Webster County with two hits apiece.

Ethan Putty went 3-for-4 at the plate to pace Hopkins County Central in the hitting department.
