Madisonville North Hopkins MaroonsMADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/15/18) — Reigning state champion Madisonville-North Hopkins halted a five-game losing skid on Monday, defeating visiting Union County 8-1 in a late-season high school softball game.

With the win, Madisonville-North Hopkins improved to 12-7.

Union County dropped to 9-17 with the loss.

Madisonville-North Hopkins pitcher Courtney Patterson earned the win. Patterson limited Union County to six hits and recorded nine strikeouts.

Courtney Peyton paced Madisonville-North Hopkins at the plate, finishing 4-for-4. Another Madisonville-North Hopkins batter, Lindsey Peyton, finished 3-for-3 at the plate.

Helping Madisonville-North Hopkins to the victory, Lexi Miller delivered a home run in the fourth inning.

Jralee Robinson and Taylor Windell led a limited Union County offensive effort with two hits apiece.
