Madisonville North Hopkins MaroonsMADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/15/18) — Madisonville-North Hopkins enjoyed an early 2-0 lead before visiting Union County came alive at the plate and eventually pulled away to win 12-2 in six innings in a late-season high school baseball game on Monday.

As a result of the loss, Madisonville-North Hopkins dropped to 16-13.

Union County improved to 13-19 with the win.

Excelling both offensively and defensively, Union County owned an 11-5 advantage in the hits column and committed only one error.

Madisonville-North Hopkins committed five errors in the loss.

Union County pitcher Coy Burns earned the win. Burns surrendered two runs on three hits over three innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Tristan Manahan and Cameron Clements each worked out of relief roles on the mound for the Braves.

Madisonville-North Hopkins pitcher Jonathan Wagoner took the loss. Wagoner went three innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and striking out three.

Caleb Corbett, Willie Matthews and James Hutchison led the Union County offensive effort with two hits apiece.

Jacob Joseph paced Madisonville-North Hopkins at the plate, delivering two hits in three at-bats.
