Madisonville North Hopkins MaroonsLOUISVILLE, Ky. (5/20/18) — The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons split a pair of high school softball games on Saturday, falling to Male while edging host Butler.

Reigning state champion Madisonville-North Hopkins outlasted Butler 2-1.

In an earlier game, Male pulled away to beat the Lady Maroons 8-1.

Madisonville-North Hopkins ended the regular-season 13-8.

Madisonville-North Hopkins 2, Butler 1: Madisonville-North Hopkins managed to edge host Butler 2-1 in the Butler Bears Triangle on Saturday.

Acacia Gray earned the pitching win for the Lady Maroons. Gray pitched six and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out three and walking zero.

Courtney Patterson started the game in the circle for Madisonville-North Hopkins. Patterson surrendered zero runs on one hit over one-third of an inning, walking zero

Gray and Jayda Perkins led Madisonville-North Hopkins with two hits apiece. Perkins launched a home run for the Lady Maroons. 

Madisonville-North Hopkins 8, Male 1: The Lady Maroons fell behind early and never enjoyed the luxury of having a lead as Male pulled away to win 8-1 in the Butler Bears Triangle on Saturday.

Madisonville-North Hopkins pitcher Courtney Patterson took the loss. Patterson allowed 12 hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out seven.

Male clubbed three home runs in the victory.

Jayda Perkins and Lexi Miller led a limited Madisonville-North Hopkins offensive effort with one hit apiece.
