apollo eagles logo 2015OWENSBORO, Ky. (6/8/18) — Apollo landed in the win column in the Owensboro Health/KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park on Friday, shutting out Estill County 6-0.

The loss eliminated Estill County from the state tournament.

Apollo pitcher Payton Blades earned the win. Blades pitched four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out six.

Estill County pitcher Kaylee Covey took the loss. Covey pitched seven innings, allowing six runs on 12 hits while striking out four and walking zero.

Blades, Hayden Pulliam, Madison Shemwell and Haley John each connected for multiple hits in Apollo's victory. Blades and Pulliam paced the E-Gals with three hits apiece.

Estill County committed four errors in the season-ending loss.

Apollo worked its way into the win column after suffering a loss to Scott County in the opening round of the Owensboro Health/KHSAA Fast Pitch Softball State Tournament one day earlier.
