baseball base 2OWENSBORO, Ky. (6/10/18) — Muhlenberg County fell short on the road on Saturday as host Owensboro held on to win 8-7 in an Ohio Valley League (OVL) game. Determined Owensboro won the OVL matchup on a walk-off sacrifice fly.

The Stallions lost despite outhitting the RiverDawgs 8-7 and finishing error-free in the field. Owensboro overcame two errors to claim the victory.

Owensboro pitcher Cam Curry notched the win. Curry pitched one inning, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking zero. Tyler Coppo and Blake Graham entered the game from the bullpen and helped to close out the contest in relief.

Muhlenberg County pitcher Kaelin Woodard took the loss. Woodard allowed three hits and three runs over four and a third innings, striking out five.

Chase Thomas started the game on the mound for the RiverDawgs. Thomas surrendered three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out one. KC Bryan started the game on the mound for the Stallions. Bryan pitched four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out two.

Curry, Bryce Walker, Kobe Stephens, Jakob Shuler, Najay King, Nick Sanders and Wyatt Daly each collected one hit to lead homestanding Owensboro. Walker homered for the RiverDawgs in the fifth inning while Stephens delivered two RBIs.

Hunter Combs, Jacob Morris and Justin Chauvin led the Muhlenberg County offensive effort with two hits apiece. Another player, Kyle O'Brien, drove in two runs for the Stallions.
