Owensboro RiverDawgsGREENVILLE, Ky. (7/21/18) — Owensboro plated five runs in the top half of the first inning and never trailed on its way to defeating host Muhlenberg County 11-5 in the first round of the Ohio Valley League (OVL) Playoffs on Saturday.

The Stallions lost despite outhitting the RiverDawgs 9-7.

Each OVL team committed three errors.

Owensboro pitcher Blake Graham earned the win. Graham pitched seven and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one. Another pitcher, Thomas Cessna, threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen for the RiverDawgs.

Muhlenberg County pitcher Kaelin Woodard took the loss. Woodard allowed four hits and nine runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five.

Jakob Shuler delivered a grand slam to drive in four of the RiverDawgs' 11 runs.

Michael Brown went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Mustangs in the hits column. Another Muhlenberg County player, Andrew Patterson, drilled a home run.
