light arrestOWENSBORO, Ky. (3/5/18) — Two people went to jail late last night after a vehicle pursuit by Kentucky State Police resulted in their arrests.

KSP said a trooper on patrol saw a 2006 Honda CRV at around 10:30 p.m. on Second Street, Owensboro that matched the description of a vehicle Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reported stolen earlier in the day. After the trooper ran the registration plate, it was confirmed stolen.

KSP said when the trooper engaged his emergency equipment, the Honda’s driver fled. The trooper pursed the vehicle for approximately six miles on Ewing, Fourth and West Fifth streets, Jeff Place and Lyddane Bridge to Lee Rudy Road.

As the vehicle was attempting to flee from troopers, the operator failed to see the road ahead of him was flooded and drove into 3 to 4 feet of water, and the car became inoperable.

KSP charged Richard Light, 34 of Owensboro with speeding 26 MPH over the limit, receiving stolen property – more than $10,000, first-degree wanton endangerment/police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police/motor vehicle, operating on a suspended license, reckless driving, disregarding a traffic light and disregarding a stop sign.

laroche copyA passenger in the vehicle, 36-year-old Lauren N. Laroche of Owensboro, was discovered to have an active warrant for failure to appear.

Both were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.

DCSO is in charge of the theft investigation.
