cant drive a stickUPDATE: OWENSBORO, Ky. (4/12/18) — Owensboro Police Department has identified the man they are wanting for allegedly stealing two automobiles yesterday — one had a child inside, which means he’s also facing kidnapping charges.

Police said the man stole two cars because the first one was a manual transmission and he was unable to drive it. So, he stole a second one.

The man, Jordan Terry, was linked to the crimes after forensic evidence gathered from the first stolen vehicle indicated Terry as the thief, said police. Yesterday, OPD reported a vehicle had been stolen and a child was inside the maroon 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, which was taken from 3511 Frederica Street.

Police said Terry released the uninjured child a short distance from the scene. Video surveillance from a business nearby also helped identify him, said police.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Terry on two counts of theft by unlawful taking - $500 or more but less than $10,000 and kidnapping/minor.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call OPD at 270-687-8888 or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.
