flaggerOWENSBORO, Ky. (5/14/18) — Prep Work for widening of Kentucky 81/West Parrish Avenue in Owensboro has begun and contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has ramped up work.
The project runs from just west of the U.S. 60/Kentucky 81 Exit 11 Owensboro Interchange starting at the Kentucky 2118/Airport Road intersection at mile point 11.72 and extending westward to the roundabout at the intersection of Kentucky 81 and Kentucky 56 near the 11 mile marker.
Initial work will focus on relocation of water and sewer lines along the project area with work ramping up for widening Kentucky 81 from two lanes to four lanes along this section.

Motorists should be prepared to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
Yager Materials is the prime contractor on the $2.8 million highway improvement project, which has an expected completion date of Nov. 15.
