omu water leakUPDATE: OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/10/18) — Owensboro Municipal Utilities announced earlier this morning that both broken water mains were repaired during last evening.

OMU said concrete is being poured to support the repairs as pressure is added and Plant A Treatment Facility returns to service.

OMU expects water service to return this afternoon or early evening; however, the boil water advisory will be in effect until further notice.

UPDATE: OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/9/18) — Owensboro Municipal Utilities has isolated the leak in the water main and has matericals on site for repairs.

After the draining is complete and repairs are made, OMU's Plant A Water Treatement facility will be back online. System tanks will then begin to refill and a system flush will be conducted, according to OMU officials.

When testing is complete and results approved by state water officlas, the boil water order will be lifted.

The boil water advisory includes all OMU cutomers, Southeast, East and West districts as well as Whitesville Water Works.

OMU is asking for customers to conserve water during the repair and restoration process.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/9/18) — A water main leak has flooded the 2000 block of East 4th Street and the entire area should be avoided, according to Owensboro Police Department.

The area between Birkhead Avenue and Leitchfield Road on East 4th Street and East 2nd Street including Wing Avenue have been cordoned off due to the break.

OPD is blocking traffic and helping Owensboro Street Department put up barricades.

There is a boil water order for all OMU customers including Southeast, East and West districts as well as Whitesville Water Works. OMU is asking for customers to conserve water.

Due to pressure loss, much of the community is without water, however, crews are working to restore it. OMU does not yet have an estimate on repairs.
