bevin gov 2017 mayOWENSBORO, Ky. (8/5/19) — Gov. Matt Bevin will make a pitstop in Owensboro on Thursday afternoon to sign three pro-life bills passed by the 2019 General Assembly. Earlier this year, the Kentucky legislature passed the Heartbeat Bill (SB 9), the Chemical Abortion Reporting Act (SB 50), and the Human Rights of the Unborn Act (HB 5). Each of these bills were sponsored by Western Kentucky Republicans and each passed by wide margins. While there, he'll be recognized for his pro-life stance.

"We're honoring Gov. Bevin with CPC's Friend of Life Award for his leadership and determination to extend legal protection to unborn children," said CPC Executive Director Richard Nelson. "This last legislative session he signed four pro-life bills into law which makes Kentucky one of the most pro-life states in the nation."

The 2019 Kentucky General Assembly enacted: the Roe v Wade Trigger Bill, Fetal Heartbeat Bill, the Chemical Abortion Reporting Act, and the Human Rights of the Unborn Act.

Bevin's involvement with pro-life legislation didn't stop with his signature. "What many people don't know is that Gov. Bevin's legal team is defending duly enacted pro-life laws that aren't being defended in court by the current attorney general," Nelson said. "Gov. Bevin is going the extra mile by committing his time, his energy, and his staff, to uphold the law intended to protect the unborn. Gov. Bevin is truly a friend of life to future Kentuckians."

The Friend of Life Award says "In appreciation for your dedication and service to restore the sanctity of life in the Commonwealth of Kentucky by signing four pro-life bills into law in the 2019 General Assembly session… We thank you for your service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Future generations are indebted to you."

The ceremonial bill signing will be held 4:30 pm Thursday, August 8 at Daviess County Court House. It's located at 212 St. Ann St., Owensboro. All news media and members of the public are invited to attend.
