mfd crane roadDAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (8/19/19) — Masonville firefighters are asking for the public’s help with information relating to a rash of fires in the Pleasant Ridge area that appear to have been intentionally set.

Masonville Fire Department is working with investigators from the Kentucky State Police and Daviess County Sheriff’s Office to find the those responsible. Two of the three fires have been deemed arson.

Three Masonville engines responded to a home fire in the 3900 block of Kentucky 764 in Pleasant Ridge at approximately 12:44 p.m. Saturday — the third call to the area in recent days for a fire believed intentionally set. MFD said the homeowners had extinguished the blaze before firefighters arrived.

On Friday, an MFD unit spotted heavy smoke shortly before 2 p.m. in the Pleasant Ridge area and discovered a house on fire in the 10000 block of U.S. 231 near Crane Pond Road. After notifying dispatchers, Masonville and Daviess County fire department units found the burning home “heavily involved”.

The family had escaped safely and DCSO, KSP arson investigation officers and the American Red Cross also responded to the home. With the weekend’s extreme heat conditions, battling the blaze caused several of the firefighters to suffer heat exhaustion with two receiving minor injuries that were treated at the scene.

Last Wednesday, MFD responded at 8:48 p.m. to a residential fire in the 3900 block of Kentucky 764 in Pleasant Ridge. Three MFD engines with as many as 20 firefighters located the fire at the back of the home and extinguished the blaze. No one was injured during the fire but it was considered suspicious, said MFD.
