ARREST ROBBERY 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (1/12/20) — Authorities tracked down an Owensboro man who allegedly forced his way into a woman’s vehicle at the West Second and Castlen Street Marathon Station Saturday.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies responded to the complaint 5:05 p.m. at 30 Bon Harbor Hills, where the caller said Scott Edward Garrard, 42 of Becker Drive, demanded that she “start driving.”

The victim drove west on West Second Street, where he then demanded she hand over her money, according to the report. The woman told deputies Garrard started choking her while she was driving, and told her that he “didn’t like the way she was driving,” so she pulled into Bon Harbor Hills Shell Station, grabbed her purse, got out of the vehicle and ran inside the store, yelling for the clerk to call police.

The woman said Garrard came into the store after her, but the clerk told him to get out, according to the report. He got back into the victim’s car and fled the area. Deputies found the vehicle today at Garrard’s home in East Daviess County.

He was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree strangulation, first-degree robbery and automobile theft. Garrard was listed as being held in Daviess County Jail this evening. An image of Garrard was not posted on the jail website.
