US 41 11 8HENDERSON, Ky. (11/8/17) — Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced plans to restrict northbound traffic to one lane along a section of the U.S. 41 North strip at Henderson Monday.

Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane at U.S. 41 milepoint 16.8 to allow erosion and drainage work along the northbound lanes just north of the Barrett Boulevard intersection. A number of drainage ditches converge with Sugar Creek at this location before the creek is routed through a culvert under U.S. 41.

Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane starting at the Barret Boulevard intersection and extending northward for a short distance to allow the KYTC Henderson County Highway Maintenance Crew to remove a section of damaged curb and gutter. This northbound work zone is between Economy Inn and Suites and the Ramada Inn. Some delays are possible during the movement and positioning of equipment required to facilitate the work.

This northbound work zone lane restriction is expected to go up around 7:30 a.m. Monday. Once the old curbing is removed at this site, the city of Henderson will have a contractor pour new concrete curbing and repair the eroded area along the roadway. The KYTC Henderson County Highway Crew will then return to backfill behind the new curbing. Work in this concentrated area is expected to be completed before dark.

Due to the northbound lane restriction on the U.S. 41 North Strip, commuters should consider an alternate route. Passenger vehicles may avoid this northbound lane restriction with a self-detour via U.S. 60 to Marywood Drive or via Elm Street to rejoin U.S. 41 at Watson Lane.

Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will attempt to provide timely notice when the work is completed and the northbound work zone removed.
