accident two car 300HENDERSON, Ky. (12/12/17) — A Henderson city police officer and another driver were injured as a result of an accident at the intersection of Fifth and North Green streets this morning.

Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reported Beth Cooper, 60 of Union County was driving a 2012 Ford Taurus northbound along North Green Street at 7:55 a.m., when she apparently ran the red light and crashed into the right side of a Henderson Police Department cruiser.

Officer Austin Hatchett, 25, was driving the Chevy Caprice, HCSO reported. He was not injured. Officer Bill Russell, 43, a passenger in the cruiser, was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment of hip and arm pain.

Cooper was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment of possible chest injuries.

HCSO listed a witness reported the Caprice, headed east along Fifth Street, had the green light when Cooper struck the cruiser.
