HENDERSON, Ky. (12/13/17) — The Henderson FOP Lodge No. 9 hosted its 22nd Annual Cops and Kids shopping event at Walmart Tuesday night.

Henderson City Police, Henderson County Sheriffs Office, Kentucky State Police and Henderson County Jail personnel joined to help make Christmas more delightful for several area children.

Several officers said they hope the effort leaves a positive impact on the community. They appeared to genuinely enjoy interacting with the youth in selecting items.

The FOP helps clothe about 60 children annually. Members are assisted by the school resource offices to select participants based on needs.

“This program has helped hundreds of children from Henderson County through the years,” said former Henderson City Police Chief Chip Stauffer. “We hope to continue this successful program for many more years, with the generosity and support of contributors throughout Henderson County.”

Organizers said the lodge has a special account for the program. Donations are accepted any time during the year to Henderson Fraternal Order of Police Lodge Post No. 9, P. O. Box 1416, Henderson, Kentucky 42419.
