holiday hours 300HENDERSON, Ky. (12/13/17) — Trash collection in the city of Henderson, recycling pickup and services at the landfill/transfer station will be operating on a different schedule on the weeks following the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, city officials announced.

For Christmas, city workers will be observing the holiday Monday, Dec. 25, and Tuesday, Dec. 26.

The residential trash collection schedule for the week after the Christmas holiday weekend is listed below:

Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 25-26: No collection.
Wednesday, Dec. 27: Monday and Tuesday routes.
Thursday, Dec. 28: Wednesday routes and that part of the Thursday routes that lie south of Second Street to Dixon, Martin Luther King and O’Byrne, and east from Water Street to Atkinson Street.
Friday, Dec. 29: Remainder of Thursday and Friday routes.
Trash pick-up begins at 6 a.m.

For New Year’s, City employees will be observing the holiday on Monday, Jan. 1. The trash pick-up schedule on the week following the New Year will be:

Monday, Jan. 1: No collection
Tuesday, Jan. 2: Regular Monday routes and Tuesday routes north of 12th Street.
Wednesday, Jan. 3: The rest of Tuesday routes and Wednesday routes.
Thursday-Friday, 4-5: Normal schedule.

The landfill/transfer station will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25-26. It will reopen at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27. It will also be closed on Monday, Jan. 1. It will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Recycling pickup in the city of Henderson is the week following the New Year holiday. The truck will be running one day behind the usual pickup day.

Meanwhile, Henderson County Recycling has announced changes in its schedule for the holiday season.

For the Christmas holiday, the Center will be closed Dec. 23 and Dec. 25-26. It will open on Dec. 27-28 for normal hours, then will close again for the New Year's holiday on Dec. 29-Jan.1.

Normal business hours will resume Jan. 2.

Also, recycling can dropped off 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the containers outside the gate at 398 Sam Ball Way.
