Brooks 12 18HENDERSON, Ky. (12/18/17) — An Evansville man is being held in Vanderburgh County Jail without bond following a report of an armed robbery outside a Wendy’s restaurant in Henderson Sunday night.

Henderson Police Department reported going to the call at 1961 U.S. 41 at 9:18 p.m. The juvenile victim told police a white man approached her vehicle while she was on break.

The man, identified as Sherrell Brooks, 44, brandished a knife and opened the girl’s car door, asking if her keys were in the the vehicle, she told police. The youth also stated Brooks took her phone, 2005 Dodge Neon and fled north.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office caught up with Brooks after a short pursuit, HPD reported.

HPD charged Brooks with first-degree robbery, theft by unlawful taking/vehicle (under $10,000).

Brooks also faces several charges in Indiana including criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement and hit and run.
