city of henderson2017HENDERSON, Ky. (12/20/17) — Property owners within the city of Henderson have until the end of the business day (5 p.m.) Tuesday, Jan. 2, to pay 2017 property tax bills without becoming delinquent, city officials announced.

Tax bills can be paid in person at the Henderson Municipal Center, 222 First St. The Municipal Center will be closed  Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25-26, for the Christmas holiday and Monday, Jan. 2, for the New Year's.

Mailed payments postmarked on or before Jan. 2 will not be delinquent, the city reported.

For those seeking an online payment option, the city of Henderson works with Value Payment Systems, a third-party automated payment service, to offer payment options for customers using the internet or automated phone service. VPS accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and electronic checks. VPS will charge a convenience fee for each transaction.

Convenience fees charged for online or automated phone service utility fees are: Debit card, $1.95; credit card, $2.95; commercial/international credit card, $4.95; and electronic check, $1.

Convenience fees charged for online or automated phone service tax/non-tax fees are: Debit card, 1 percent; credit card, 2.5 percent; electronic check, $1.

Residents can find the link to making an online payment, as well as additional information about online payments on the city's website by visiting www.cityofhendersonky.org/254/Online-Payments. Customers should use city entity code 100199.

If paying by telephone, dial the toll free number, 1-844-272-9468, and follow the operator prompts for the type of payment.

Also, Henderson County property taxes become delinquent if not paid by Jan. 1. They can be paid at the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office through Thursday, Dec. 28, after which time they will be turned over to the County Clerk’s Office as delinquent.

The Henderson County Courthouse is closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25-26, for the Christmas holiday and Friday, Dec. 29, and Monday, Jan. 1, for the New Year holiday.
