Fire 09 brush fire 300HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (1/7/18) — All hands are on deck as volunteer firefighting agencies are battling a number of brush fires across Henderson and Webster counties today.

Hebbardsville, Niagara and Zion departments were called out before 2 p.m. today to extinguish 6 acres of woods on fire along Pleasant Hill Road in Hebbardsville, fire officials reported. Several firefighters are using all-terrain vehicles to reach the blaze.

Robards Volunteer Fire Department is assisting Sebree volunteers at a field fire along Countryside Drive. Available firefighters were also en route around 2 p.m. to a report of a large oilfield fire around the 1,300 block of Kentucky 370 in Webster County.

The cause of the fires are unknown, although weather conditions have been relatively dry this winter. Forecasters predict a chance of rain showers this evening.
