School board recognition month

HENDERSON COUNTY, KY. (1/8/18) — Kentucky will again observe January as School Board Recognition Month and Henderson County is joining in the celebration.

The board is composed of Lisa Baird, Mike Waller, Tracey Williams, Dr. Sally Sugg, and Wes Smith.

“The voters of our community have created a special group of education leaders in this board,” said Superintendent, Marganna Stanley. “They are true partners in the work to ensure every child in every classroom can experience high quality teaching and learning.”

“When you consider how state and federal funding is shrinking, our school board has faced tremendous challenges, and members haven’t flinched from their responsibilities,” Stanley said. “Our community can be very proud of this team of board members, and I’m proud to be their partner working for education excellence for our children.”

Across the state, Kentucky’s 173 public school systems will use January to recognize the work of 867 local school board members.

“School board members across Kentucky have faced numerous and growing challenges the past few years, and this year has been a particularly challenging one,” said KSBA President David Webster, chairman of the Simpson County Board of Education. “As I traveled the state last fall, I saw the dedication in every local school board member to make Kentucky’s schools among the tops in the nation to ensure our children can be competitive wherever they may go. I am very proud to be a local school board member in Kentucky.”

Henderson School Board members will be recognized at the Jan. 22 Board of Education meeting.
