HENDERSON, Ky. (1/9/18) — Henderson Police Department announced the agency will be conducting its Spring Citizen's Academy beginning 6 p.m. March 13.
The eight-week course will be held 6-8 p.m. each Tuesday at the Henderson Police Department, 1990 Barret Court, Henderson.
HPD Spokeswoman Jennifer Richmond said Informative, hands-on classes will include a tour of the department and 911 Center, basic patrol operations, mock traffic stops, crime scene processing/fingerprinting, investigations techniques, specialized units demonstrations, firearms safety, virtual training on a firearms training simulator and a Henderson County Detention Center tour. There will also be a Saturday field trip to the HPD firing Range. A graduation dinner and discussion will be held on the final night.

Richmond said approved participants must be at least 18 years old, with no felony or domestic violence convictions.
