FischerHENDERSON, Ky. (4/13/18) — Henderson Police Department charged a man in connection to a recent copper theft investigation this morning.

HPD reported detectives began investigating after copper was reported stolen from a power substation on South Green Street belonging to Henderson Municipal Power and Light.

Officers received a call from Henderson Metal Recycling off South Green Street that Christopher A. Fischer, 39 of Evansville, Indiana, was there to sell a “large amount of copper wire,” according to the report. Officers stopped Fischer along South Green Street at 9:40 a.m., finding a significant amount of copper wire in his vehicle.

A utility worker identified the copper as belonging to the city, police said. Fischer declined to make a statement to HPD.

Fischer was charged with receiving stolen property (under $10,000), and taken to Henderson County Jail, where he was listed as being held this afternoon, pending bond.
