Henderson Seal 02 300HENDERSON, Ky. (4/16/18) — Hazex Construction, a contractor for the city of Henderson, will demolish the former Immanuel Baptist Temple sanctuary Saturday, city officials announced.

Starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and during the demolition/cleanup, Adams Street, between First and Second, will be closed to traffic.

There will also be a lane restriction on Second Street, city officials reported. Only one outbound lane will be available near the corner of Second and Adams. Drivers are aked to use caution and be alert to additional truck traffic while debris is being cleared.

The demolition is being done on a weekend in order not to interfere with weekday traffic and classes at neighboring Holy Name School, officials said. The demolition initially planned during spring break was delayed.

The site will eventually become the location of a new central fire station for the Henderson Fire Department. The classroom portion of the former church will be retained and renovated for use in the new fire station complex.
