Hoke 3HENDERSON, Ky. (4/23/18) — A man identified as allegedly stealing a truck right off of Butler’s Automotive’s lot last August has been arrested, authorities reported.

Henderson Police Department officers reported responding to Butler's Automotive on North Green Street Aug. 12 on reports of a stolen truck.

The lot owner, Joe Butler, stated that a white male stole a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax Diesel from the lot, the report revealed. Butler had said that one of his employees was showing the truck to Richard Hoke, when the worker gave Hoke the key and went back inside the building to retrieve something. Hoke was said to have immediately driven off and was documented by surveillance video later in the investigation.

HPD said Hoke was identified as the suspect by multiple Henderson County Detention Center workers, who stated that Hoke had bonded out of jail earlier in the day. The following day on Aug. 13, Hoke was involved in a three-county vehicle pursuit with law enforcement agencies in Illinois. Mt. Carmel Police Department had previously reported that Hoke was driving the vehicle during the pursuit.

This past Friday, HPD arrested Hoke on warrants of theft by unlawful taking (auto)-$10,000 or more/less than $1million, violation of conditions of release, driving on a suspended or revoked license and failure to appear. Hoke was listed as being held today in Henderson County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
