high speed chase 300 blueHENDERSON, Ky. (10/11/18) — A man wanted on Indiana felony warrants sped away from Evansville police early this morning.

Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reported Kentucky authorities took over the pursuit after the driver fled south into Kentucky at 3 a.m.

The suspect allegedly traveled southbound on the north twin bridge at a high rate of speed.

HCSO deputies located the vehicle in the area of Second and North Green streets, according to a press release. The driver, identified as Rick Eugene Beumer, 54 of Evansville, accelerated as officers attempted to stop him.

“The pursuit spanned several streets in the city of Henderson,” Deputy Chris Keller wrote. Beumer turned onto U.S. 41 and went south across Kentucky 425, where his vehicle began to break down. “Deputies along with the Henderson Police Department conducted a high risk traffic stop,” and Beumer was apprehended.

HCSO indicated Beumer was wanted on felony Indiana warrants on the charges of possession and trafficking in methamphetamine. He was taken to Henderson County Jail.

Kentucky authorities charged Beumer with first-degree fleeing police, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment-police officer and disregarding a stop sign.
