Hend 3 11HENDERSON, Ky. (3/11/19) — City officers investigated the alleged kidnapping of a 43-year-old Henderson resident and her child over the weekend that resulted in two arrests Sunday.

Henderson Police Department reported they began investigating Friday night through early Saturday morning concerning the victim, who told detectives she was being held against her will for several hours, enduring “cruel treatment and physical assaults.”

The victim also indicated she was severely beaten, while her 9-year-old child was in the Pringle Street home, according to the report, and threatened their lives repeatedly. The woman was treated for multiple injuries at Methodist Hospital.

HPD reported detectives found evidence to corroborate the victim’s story. Police have named two suspects, Jacob Bates, 30 of Louisville, and Melinda Cabell, 35 of Henderson, in relation to the investigation after catching up with the duo Sunday.

Bates was charged with two counts of kidnapping and second-degree assault. Cabell was charged with two counts of complicity to kidnapping, fourth-degree assault and served a warrant on the charge of fugitive from another state.

Bates and Cabell were each listed as being held in Henderson County Jail today on $10,000 cash bond.
