Roderick 4 27HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (5/21/19) — A Henderson County Jail inmate with alleged plans to murder his ex-girlfriend in Kinmundy, Illinois was charged today with one count of attempted murder stemming from an incident that occurred April 23-26.

Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies from Marion County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois contacted them regarding information that Jacob D. Roderick, 37 of Evansville, Indiana, was planning and had attempted to murder his former girlfriend in Illinois.

Illinois deputies went to Henderson County for assistance to obtain a search warrant at Roderick’s motel room at True Vine Inn, HCSO reported. Roderick was wanted as a fugitive from justice in Indiana and Illinois.

“Deputy Rick Lawrence observed Roderick leave his motel room and enter a truck on the parking lot,” HCSO Detective John Nevels wrote. When Lawrence attempted to arrest Roderick, he resisted and assaulted Lawrence.

Roderick was arrested and charged April 26 on fugitive from other states charges, resisting arrest and third-degree assault of an officer.

Authorities reported searching the motel room, discovering items that collaborated with witness statements resulting in the attempted murder charge.

The investigation is ongoing, HCSO reported. Anyone with information is asked to call HCSO at (270) 826-2713.
