censusHENDERSON, Ky. (8/5/19) — A meeting to discuss goals for Henderson County’s Complete Count Committee for the 2020 Census is on schedule for Thursday.

The meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. in the Peabody Building conference room, adjacent to the Henderson City-County Planning Commission, for those interested in the upcoming Census.

“A good count and the highest count possible is a benefit to our city and county,” Mayor Steve Austin said in a statement.

The Census count can impact a community’s share of federal money, money for roads and highways, water and sewer lines, broadband and other services, city officials reported. It can also impact economic development and the resulting property tax potential as companies looking to relocate use Census figures as a part of their decision-making process.

One of the main goals for the Complete Count Committee is to identify advocates to help publicize the importance of completing the forms and encourage all segments of the community to support a full and accurate Census count, city spokeswoman Donna Stinnett reported.
