hallowee events 300HENDERSON, Ky. (10/14/19) — Three community churches, Audubon Kids Zone and the John J. Kennedy Community Center/City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department are teaming up again for Community Trunk or Treat Halloween Extravaganza.

Participating churches are Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church, Seventh Street Baptist Church and New Race Creek Baptist Church.

This year’s event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, starting at 2:30 p.m., city spokeswoman Donna Stinnett reported. The route will be the same, starting at the Audubon Kids Zone on the corner of Letcher and Powell streets and ending at the John F. Kennedy Community Center at 515 Alvasia St.

City officials are seeking volunteers to make the event a success like last year, which drew 1,500 participants to the safe and fun event for all ages.

There will be lots of candy and fun, and a hotdog and beverage await at the end of the trail. Haunted school buses will run from the JFK back to AKZ every 15 minutes for those who park at AKZ.
