downtown hend fire

HENDERSON, Ky. (11/8/19) — Henderson Fire Department officials said no one was inside of an apartment dwelling claimed by fire early this morning.

The fire was on the second floor of the building off the 300 block of First Street in the downtown Historic business district. There appears to have been significant damage to that portion of the building. According to firefighters, the blaze was extinguished in about an hour.

First Street, between Green and Elm streets, were closed to traffic 9:15 a.m. today.

Cause of the fire has not yet been determined. City officials announced this week a fire that displaced several residents Oct. 26 at Weaverton Apartments off Atkinson Street was not suspicious. HFD ruled the cause of that blaze as “undetermined."
