police carHENDERSON, Ky. (12/1/19) — A Henderson Police Department officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries after his cruiser was struck by a Greyhound bus early this morning.

HPD called Henderson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the 4:11 a.m. crash at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Watson Lane.

HCSO reported Officer Cameron Shelton, 35 of Sebree, was taken to Methodist Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. None of the 26 people aboard the bus were injured.

The driver of the Greyhound was identified as 57-year-old Sharon Smith of St. Louis, Missouri. HCSO indicated Smith ran a red light on U.S. 41 and struck the police cruiser, which caused it to spin.
