Owensboro RiverDawgsOWENSBORO, Ky. (7/16/19) — Owensboro fell behind in the opening inning and couldn't battle its way back as visiting Franklin pulled away to win 8-4 in an Ohio Valley League game at Independence Bank Field at Chautauqua Park on Monday.

Trevor Beards earned the pitching win for the Duelers. Beards pitched five innings, allowing zero runs on five hits and striking out seven. Another Franklin pitcher, Rylan Thomas, threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Thomas recorded the last 12 outs to claim the save.

Holden Martin suffered the pitching loss for the RiverDawgs. Martin pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out one.

Sam Gage and Jordan Blick each managed multiple hits for the Duelers. Gage went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Franklin in the hits column.

Owensboro lost despite outhitting Franklin 11-10. Bailey Falkenstein, Kirk Liebert and Josh Bennett each collected multiple hits for the RiverDawgs. Falkenstein led Owensboro at the plate, registering three hits in four at-bats.
