Madisonville Police Department reported Brent Bennett of Madisonville was headed north on Brown Road at 2:07 a.m. in a 2014 Nissan 370-Z, when he saw animals in his lane of travel upon approaching the curve near Valley Drive.

Bennett told police he veered into the south lane to avoid striking the animals and ran off the road, striking a street sign. After overcorrecting, his vehicle continued on to strike a mailbox, according to a preliminary accident report. He traveled about 100 yards along the roadside, jumped two culverts and struck another mailbox.

Police indicated Bennett’s head struck the windshield, causing minor injuries. Medical Center Ambulance Service took him to Baptist Health for treatment. Madisonville Fire Department assisted.
