happeningsandmeetings REDHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (12/23/17) —The following happenings and meetings are scheduled for Hopkins County:

• Finders Keepers is participating in an ugly sweater contest today, where workers in their sweaters plan to ask patrons to pay a fee to vote for them. Proceeds go to Hopkins County Humane Society.

• Grapevine Christian Church will present a Drive through Nativity 6-8 p.m., through Dec. 26 including eight lighted stations reflecting the events leading to the birth of Christ.

• Hopkins County will come together again to read the Bible in its entirety starting midnight Jan. 1. The event will be nonstop through 6 p.m. Jan. 4. Contact Lyndia Crick at 270 875-1553 to reserve 15 minutes to read or reserve a three-hour block as a team captain. The event is for all ages and all denominations.

• PACS is now able to offer more seniors in need of services in their homes. Services include home-delivered meals, homemaking services, personal care and respite. For qualifications and information, call 866-844-4396.

• An in-person sssister (for insurance questions and enrollment) is at the PACS Assistance Center each Wednesday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., 130 Branch St., Madisonville. For an appointment call 270-348-0477. Walk-ins welcomed.

• A free meal is available every Wednesday night and on the second, third, and fourth Friday nights of every month at the Damascus Road House youth center 10 Nortonville Rd. Nortonville, Ky. Meals are for ages 2-18 and the meal time is from 5:30-6:45 each evening.

• Pride Elementary Site-Based Council meets 3:30 p.m. each second Monday at the school.

• West Hopkins SBDM will meet at 3 p.m. the last Monday of each month in the WHS SBDM room, West Hopkins School.

• Earlington Elementary School Site-Based Decision-Making Council meets at 4:15 p.m., on the second Monday of the month at the school. Meetings move to the following Monday if there is no school that day.

• Hanson City Commission meets the last Tuesday each month at 6 p.m., Hanson City Hall, 30 Sunset Road, Hanson.

• Hope2All Food Bank is open every Tuesday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Food boxes are given out, 92 N. Main Street, Nortonville.

• Damascus Road House, 10 Nortonville Rd., Nortonville is open from 6-9 p.m. the second, third and fourth Friday each month. The Road House is a non-profit, non-denominational organization, open to area church youth groups and those ages 12-19.

• Hopkins County Bass Club meets the second Thursday each month at 6:30 p.m., Brothers BBQ, 1055 N. Main St., Madisonville.

• Hopkins County Senior Citizens Center hosts its regular monthly meeting of the Hopkins/Muhlenberg Elder Abuse Council at 9 a.m. the first Tuesday every month at the HC Senior Citizens Center, North Main, Madisonville.

• Dance the Night Away at Pam’s Dance Barn, 35 Cedar Lane, Madisonville is every Saturday, 7-10 p.m. For information, call 270-836-4649.

• Hopkins County AARP meets the second Monday each month for a noon lunch at the Country Cupboard with a program at 1 p.m.

• Hopkins County Historical Society meets in the basement of the museum on 107 Union St. in Madisonville on the second Thursday every month at 6:30 p.m.

• Hopkins County Genealogy Society meets at the Judicial Center (old Post Office), 56 N. Main St., Madisonville, on the fourth Tuesday each month at 7 p.m.

• Nebo City Commission will meet the first Monday each month, unless a holiday, then the following Monday, 6 p.m. at the former Nebo School/Community Center.

• Madisonville Noon Kiwanis meets at noon every Friday, First United Methodist Church, Center Street, Madisonville.

• Calvary Temple Community is "Feeding the Hungry" every Sunday morning. Free breakfast is served from 9-9:30 a.m.

• Hopkins County Business and Professional Women's Club meets 6 p.m. the first Tuesday every month at Oak Ridge Retirement Center, 750 Dodson Lane in Madisonville.

• Elizabeth's House, a women's shelter in Nebo, is in need of female Christian volunteers for daytime and evening hours. For information, contact Anna Beth Parish at 270-249-0008 or 270-871-5887.

• MadCity Morning Mingle is each Thursday Morning at 7:30 a.m. at Big City Market, Sugg Street, Madisonville, for breakfast and business mingle.

• “Story Hour” takes place at the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library each Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 425 E. Center St., Madisonville.

• “A Fistful of Colors,” coloring for adults, is held 4-5 p.m. by Hopkins County- Madisonville Public Library the last Friday each month, 425 E. Center St., Madisonville.

• West Kentucky Photography Club meets the first Monday every month at 7 p.m. in Room 214-215 Hatley Building, Health Technology Campus, 750 Laffoon Street, Madisonville.
