Blair MaganaUPDATE: MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/26/17) — Madisonville parents face child abuse charges following an investigation.

According to Madisonville Police Department arrest reports released today, Roger A. Blair, 20, and Alyssa B. Magana, 22, were served warrants at a West Broadway Street address around noon Thursday. Each were charged with first-degree criminal abuse of a child (under 12 years old).

MPD Spokesman Lt. Andy Rush said MPD detectives received a call from Baptist Urgent Care Nov. 8 concerning a 14-month-old child being seen for a minor illness. The healthcare examiners indicated discovering several bruises on the child and reported it to detectives that day.

"Our detectives responded, and began their investigation and eventually transferred the child to Louisville to a children's hospital to be examined," Rush said. "Based on extensive bruising and injuries to the child, forensic examiners were able to analyze the injuries to determine if they were normal or related to something beyond such as abuse."

Rush said the child is in protective custody. The county attorney, Hopkins Circuit Judge Bill Whitlege signed the arrest warrants based on all the evidence.

Blair and Magana were each listed as being held in Hopkins County Jail this afternoon on $2,000 cash bond, with a court date of 9 a.m. Wednesday.
