GlemaMADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/3/18) — Auditions for the comedy Over the River and Through the Woods by Joe DePietro will be held 4 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Glema Mahr Center for the Arts on the campus of Madisonville Community College, Madisonville.

Story Synopsis: Nick, a single, Italian-American from New Jersey, routinely visits both sets of his grandparents for Sunday dinner. He has been offered a “dream job” that will move him across the country and must break the news to his grandparents, who do not take it very well. They scheme to keep him in town, including setting him up on blind-date, Glema Director Brad Downall announced.

Character descriptions (Character age is desired “stage age”)
Nick - 25-30 years old — career in advertising
Frank - 75-80 years old — moved to America from Italy when he was 14; family focused
Aida - 70-75 — all problems can be solved by food; wife of Frank
Nunzio - 70-75 — romantic family man; has a secret
Emma - 70-75 — all problems can be solved by the right spouse; wife of Nunzio
Caitlin - 25-30 — a nurse; Nick's blind date

The performances are Feb. 15-17 at the Glema Center, with regularly scheduled rehearsals beginning as soon as the play is cast. Those auditioning will read from the script which may be checked out through the Glema Center office Jan. 3-5. This production will be directed by Kelley Elder.
