HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (1/5/18) — Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding is available in Hopkins County beginning 8 a.m. Monday through the middle of March or until funds are expended.
Pennyrile Allied Community Services-Hopkins County Assistance Center at 130 Branch St., Madisonville, announced the office will be accepting applications from residents should they be in a crisis situation involving imminent loss of heating energy.
Applicants are required to provide the following:
• Utility disconnection notice
• Have four or fewer days of fuel oil, propane, kerosene, wood or coal
• Received an eviction notice citing unpaid rent
Kentucky LIHEAP is a federally funded program that helps low-income families pay heating bills through grants or crisis grants paid directly to utility companies. Subsidies are offered November and December, while the crisis component is initiated in January.
