snowy road 300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (1/11/18) — Classes have been called off for Hopkins County Schools Friday due to the area winter storm warning.

School spokeswoman Lori Harrison reported in a statement that Friday will be a SKILLS Day for students. Students K-12 will be expected to complete their SKILLS Day assignments for Day 2.

Instructional faculty and staff should not report to their schools, but will be expected to work from home and document accordingly. Additional information is available at www.hopkins.kyschools.us/skills.

In addition, Harrison said Central Office will be closed, and employees must make up this time. Preschool does not meet on Fridays, so those students are not expected to complete a SKILLS Day assignment.

There will be no school Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the area 9 p.m. Thursday-9 p.m. Friday.
